The rebirth of a French Renaissance style Garden! Josephine would have been 110 years old this year, and in addition, the present owners are celebrating 15 years of dedicated passion to their castle. So we are delighted to offer groups more benefits so that everyone can find a tour option to suits their needs. In 2016, the big news is the « Renaissance » of the French garden; your group will have the pleasure of discovering a completely restored and refurbished garden for their enjoyment in every sense of the word.

Finally, we pride ourselves on the dedicated service we offer to group organisers from enquiry to departure. Our friendly and experienced group coordinators welcome individuals as well as small and large groups. A new programme of personalized tours has been introduced to accommodate everyone’s needs.

Self-guided tour:

If your group prefers an independent visit, this is the ideal tour. On your arrival you go on tour with our comprehensive brochure. This brochure allows visitors to identify every aspect of the castle’s architecture, the history of the Caumonts, and learn more about Josephine Baker’s life. During this tour you will enjoy visiting the castle, the walk around the gardens and the birds of prey demonstration. Whilst touring the gardens, our diurnal and nocturnal raptors are visible in the park additionally; two beautiful aviaries allow you to discover our exotic birds such as cockatiels, lovebirds and kakariki. Brochures are available in French, English, Dutch, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Guided tour:

This tour is carried out with a headset (audio phone); your clients listen to our guide through this device therefore giving a totally exclusive tour to your group, optimum safety in the castle and thus a truly comfortable visit!

For reasons of safety and comfort for visitors, a guide will accompany a maximum of 30 people; if your group consists of more than 30 people, you are allocated a second guide. For example, a group of over 44 persons will be divided into two groups of 22 persons.

New introduction! Complete guided tour around the park and gardens: The exciting news this season is the « Renaissance » of our park and gardens. We offer a 30-40 minute tour taking you back in time retracing the early twentieth century. The restoration of Jules Vacherot Park combines Renaissance, Art Nouveau and a touch of singular modernity.

A Semi-Guided Tour:

A guide accompanies you and gives a 20 minute introduction and overview of the castle history and Josephine Baker’s life. Thereafter, you are free to visit the castle interior at your own pace with a brochure, experience the birds of prey demonstration and wander freely around the gardens. Audio phones are not necessary on this tour. Duration 20 minutes with guide; count from 30 to 45 minutes in the castle.

Audio-guided tour:

Audio tours allow you to discover the castle, the gardens and the people and events that created its history, at your own pace. By renting an audio-guide, the members of your group simply follow the commentary they want to hear: 24 commentaries room by room, where they will learn about the people, the history of the castle, the architecture, the life of Josephine Baker, the gardens and the chapel (exterior). The audio-guide is one the most complete ways to do the tour.
It is available in French, English, Dutch, German, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
